Foundation to Award $250,000 for Veterans' Initiatives

Farash Foundation News Release

The Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation will make available $250,000 for grants to nonprofit organizations for American Veterans Initiative Grants to help support returning veterans as well as families of individuals on active duty. The grants will be announced on September 11, 2012.

Foundation trustees decided on this focus for the “Human Services” category this year to recognize the significant contributions of this country’s veterans and to underscore the importance of supporting their readjustment to civilian life.

Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 status in Monroe and Ontario Counties are eligible to apply for grants up to $25,000 through the Foundation’s website, www.farashfoundation.org. The application deadline is Aug. 14.
Innovative and collaborative initiatives that provide education, job training, job placement, medical, and other supportive services to veterans and their families, and to families of soldiers on active military duty, will be considered. Eligible programs include those assisting veterans with a successful readjustment from military to civilian life, including reintegration with family members and with the communities in which they live.

In 1988, they established the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation (www.farashfoundation.org), which makes grants to nonprofit organizations in Monroe and Ontario Counties, half of them for Jewish projects and programs.
